house to the beach

Nestled into the bluff, this house naturally resonates with daylight. At night, it is warm and intimate, with views to the exterior retained through careful exterior lighting.

A light touch means that limited lighting animates a beautiful home, not declaring its presence, but gently adding to the space.

Integral to the architecture, light balances the use of objects (track and surface lighting) with discrete recessed lighting and much of the light detailed invisibly into the architecture.

Through numerous changes of geometry, varying solutions maintain a single tone and experience of light, intimate but active – a suitable house for a young family.

An intimate home built from a glass box set into the hill demands a rich experience of light.
