Location
Carantec, France

Maison de Verre, stands out as a unique residence in France, thanks to its translucent glass walls that cater to a client with vision impairment. This innovative home, located in Carantec, Brittany, ensures a consistent, diffused light throughout, making it a haven for its owner who can only perceive vague shapes.

The house’s design, with its angular and monochromatic form, not only optimizes the light-box effect but also makes a striking statement in its suburban setting. The use of double-glazed panels provides a sculptural quality, while the enclosed terrace offers a seamless transition between the interior and exterior lighting conditions.

Inside, the open-plan living and dining area on the ground floor is complemented by two bedrooms and a bathroom, with an additional bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. The interior fixtures, such as a glass staircase and a bright white kitchen counter, enhance the overall lighting effect. At night, the carefully planned lighting system ensures a uniform light quality, making the house glow like a lantern and creating a truly unique living experience.
